Dining experience in Singapore

In Singapore, we have lots of options available for food. Well-known for our local dishes, somehow I think most of the nice places to dine at are the high end restaurants. Personally, I like to go to quiet places to eat. Best if there's only a table occupied by me. Some restaurants can be very noisy and disturbing to eat in.

For the best local dishes, it's always highly recommended to go to the hawker centres. However, there's one big issue. Most of the hawker centres are open usually in the morning. So either you work really near there, or you have lots of time to slowly eat at your own time own target in the morning.

My parents used to be a hawker, and typically we operate from 6.30am till 3pm. After that, the hawker centre will be like a ghost town. Sometimes the stall owners will stay back to prepare for the food to be used the next day. Some will also stay back for a beer or two after a hard day of work.

One issue I face here is that all the fine dining restaurants sell food that I don't like. They are either cold or raw. We don't really have quiet, restaurants selling chinese or local food. Well, you can say if i want local or chinese, why don't i just go coffee shops. But it's a little too noisy for me. I'm not very atas person, i can eat in hawker centre, it's just that if you have a special occasion that you want to celebrate, chances are, you will reserve a restaurant for that special day.

However, a look in the menu you will see dishes like shaved ham (cured? still raw to me). Smoked salmon? (Same thing --> RAW). Caviar --> erm raw eggs?! Usually served cold. OR, food like foie gras --> hmm.. very cruel to me. Nothing against people who likes them. It's just a personal preference. My brother once told me that geese don't have such a big liver. People feed them as much as they can to get a bigger liver out of them. T.T so poor thing. I never tried before hearing this story. And I also never did after that. I am a Singaporean who don't eat pig organs. I can eat Kway Chap with preserved veg, fish cakes, braised egg and tau kwa. Lol!  Also... truffles?! super pungent moldy smell. It's enough to ruin my appetite.

We now have dining inside a "Fish Tank", in a revolving tower and at a very tall height (72 storey or something). I haven't tried all of them. But i think the revolving tower place serves chinese food. I'm going to give it a try sometime soon. As for the other two, maybe I'll just go for erm.. drinks or sides. Hahaha.. or if they serve international buffet.

the anonymous hack

Recently, there have been news about The Anonymous hacking on Singapore government websites and declaring war with Singapore Government.

They are concerned about the censorship issues that is going to arise with the new laws in place. Like all average Singaporeans, I decide to stay put. I don't support, but I don't defend the government as well. Making absurd laws are not new to Singaporeans. And because we enjoy the peace here, we simply follow what the government says. As long as it's not too harsh, Singaporeans sure have very high limits.

One of the very absurd laws was the Electronic Road Pricing System. Cars entering certain areas will be charged a price every they go under the gantry. You can get a fine if you do not have sufficient value in your cash card. Recently, its told that one of the gantry is going to increase it's value to $6. When it started, it's as low as 50cents. Although Singaporeans complain, they accepted.

Today is 5th November 2013. The Anonymous urged Singaporeans to black out their facebook profile pictures, and wear a combination of black and red to the streets of Singapore as a demonstration of silent protest. I believe they would want some form of assurance to their act. They hacked 19 government websites. Their capabilities cannot be looked down on. And because they are anonymous, it creates fear. Maybe Singapore government has no way to prevent them from hacking their websites, I'm quite certain that they are able to catch them and charge them in court. Even if we do not have the expertise to find them, I'm sure some other countries would want to offer help.

Like a bystander, I watch and speculate. I'm really curious on how far can they go. Although a lot see them as heros, somethings just wouldn't go the way you expected. In this situation, I really don't know which stand to take. Will I even make a difference?

I hope the war wouldn't hurt anyone. As in the individual Singaporeans. Like the Straits Times Journalist who posted the blog that The Anonymous didn't like. I believe she worked hard to reach that position. Now she either have to quit or it's war! I can't imagine the amount of stress she's under.

But somehow, I wonder if the hackers are like teenagers, working adults or maybe even retired people. Sitting on their couch with a dozen of donuts beside their mice. Drinking coke.... With four large screens with binary codes staring back at them. Haha.. or would it be like a well-suited man, pressing a hidden button at a latch behind his cupboard, and the whole thing turned around and he entered his secret chambers with huge mainframes and futuristic deco.

I think my imagination is one of my skills. If my writing is better, I should be publishing a book... Suddenly doing self-searching.

Not sure how it will turn out....

一泻千里

Had my third diarreah for the day. Twice before noon and once at 7pm. I dont understand why I kept having diarreah but doc mentioned that nephrotic syndrome patients usually have loose bowels.

And to notice the pattern, I usually get it on monday. The day I usually dread going to work.

Urgh!

Ppl of all sorts

No matter of countries. Everybody behave differently. Everybody have their their funny way of surviving in this world. Well, I see it as funny as I hope to be as optimistic as possible...

Recently, I sense that one colleague is less friendly towards another.  Colleague A is undergoing major restructuring of her family bcos she has (soon to be had) a cheating husband. Or so I thought.

In this world, everything happens for a reason. And it depends on each individual on how u see the story... for me, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Unless I hate the person hardcore. Even in a car accident, I see myself if I'm in the wrong first.

So, this colleague whose quite dear to me, is having her second divorce. It's really difficult for her initially. But she's now stronger and trying to settle her issues. However,  colleague B feels like A is taking things for granted. Well, a lot of things. Or should we say, enough to piss her off.

Both of them were really close when I just got to know them. A will send B home when they finish work. They will go for dinner together. This is what I heard and understand.  But B was unhappy that A is making use of people or glorifying some things that she's doing. There's some habits that B thinks its bad.

For example, A kept complaining that she's short of cash and how her lawyer is saying nasty things to her. On the other hand, she's buying gadgets and luxury goods but saying its bcos her kids needed them. If one were to analyse the situation, I believe that would be the last required thing. Even if your kids are noisy, you educate them. Throwing them a tablet wont solve the problem. In my opinion, it creates more problem. Like they will fight over who uses it more, they show they wanna watch, etc.

In another case, B asked if A wanted to buy moonies when there was a bazaar, A mentioned that she don't take mooncakes. However,  today A opened the moonies that was supposed to be for tomorrow's celebration. I would say its my fault bcos I forgot to mention that. I told her she can eat. B was unhappy when A came to want to open the second mooncake. She was almost whining when I asked if she already finished the first one.  So much for "I dont eat moon cake." I think it should be, I don't want to pay for a mooncake.

My way of surviving is putting my woes on a platform that nobody around me sees. I don't tell anyone about this blog and do not reveal any person particulars. It is never my intention to bitch about people. I just wish to have a channel for expressing myself. Penning something down also help to construct my views to certain things.

.when things are difficult, don't make them impossible.

Caught in a minor accident

Was caught in a bump while coming out of a gantry in malaysia customs. Hit a malaysian toyota black suv. Had some minor scratches. Undergoing polishing now... 40RM including car wash.

I'm not sure whose in fault. The 6268 is definitely going too fast. Unable to stop in time. I'm sure baby didnt check before coming out of the gantry. That's why the hit.

Anyway, I really had no much brain cells left to think about it. As long as his ok, I'm ok, car is ok... den everything is fine. There's nothing that money can't settle at this stage.

I reckon that if I want more things, I'll get more stress and I most probably have to work to get it. Nothing is free in this era.

ilo ilo 爸妈不在家。

I am a fan of radio 100.3. I listened to their station almost every weekday morning. I also participated in their games and won some prizes. I like how they chat wittily and disturb each other. Lol! There's also parts where they teach chinese 成语 to children, tell parents how to communicate with kids. I like how they make advertisements interesting and informative like the yakult ad they do every morning.

At a certain point of time, I actually thought of being a DJ myself. I reckon that I do not have such enough talents for it. What I have is only a decent voice.

Anyway, back to the topic. The DJ 黄文宏 participated in the production of this SG movie Ilo Ilo. It was about a domestic helper who came to a Singaporean family from the Philippines. The story took place around the 80s. I find it very close to heart. Something like what I went through. It's almost scarily similar.

This is also the first movie that was awarded the 66th Cannes Film Festival  Camera d’Or . It was reported that people stood and clap for 15 minutes to praise the cast after the movie was showed in Cannes. Well that's something. Foreigners who spoke a different language relied on the subtitles and the wonderful acting skills and really appreciated the movie!

I purposely picked a weekday afternoon to watch this show so that I can watch in a quieter theater. Unfortunately, there was a big crowd of aunties and uncles. They went in a group. At least 10 of them. They were seated at the top centre of the theater and was chatting and discussing the plot ALL THE TIME! Up till the point where someone "Shhh" them. But still.. They continued chatting... Thinking that they are at their own house. Etiquette!

I felt that the movie was great! The acting skills of Yeo Yann Yann and Angeli Bayani was superb! They fully demonstrate the difficulties that they were facing. The script was well-written. Some humour or terms are very local. The plot was interesting although quite predictable for me. I'm not expecting it to be a Da Vincci Code or something. Just an enjoyable movie that brings tears and laughter.

I am looking forward to watch it again with my mum! She does not frequent the cinema but she's a listener of Radio 100.3. She's also expressed interest in this movie. So yeah!

being fat in sinful city

Singapore is a city filled with delicious food. Most of them are high in calories. Due to our vast culture, we get to eat food from the different race and religion. Chinese likes stir-frying and deep frying methods of cooking. Although we do steaming from time to time, most of the food that's calling your names are those packed with loads of fats! For stir-frying dishes, we have Char Kway Tiao and Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodles. Both are fried with deep fried lards to have the extra fragrance and omph in it. Although I don't quite fancy it, a lot of Singaporeans do!

There are simply too few places with steam goodness. There's one that I really liked but it's more to the saltier side (equals to high sodium). How come we do not have any places with simple steam dishes? Think they are not nice or tasty enough to survive on our local foody population. Where people actually don't mind eating something nicer for the same price. People tend to choose tasty over health. So much about being healthier. LOL!

Our Malay friends sell wicked Satay, Mee Rebus, Nasi Briyani and etc. They do not use lard due to their religion. Muslims do not eat Pork. But they have a lot of Mutton dishes. Their Mutton Briyani is to die for. Now that Briyani is available anywhere, anytime, it's really hard to avoid the savoury goodness of the spices and colourful rice. Also, the melt-in-your-mouth mutton, cooked till super tender. It's also sucked in all the flavours of the spices thereby covering the gamy smell of the mutton.

I just ate Roti Prata and Mee Goreng yesterday. There's this super sinful shop in Thomson area. The roti prata they serve is the crispy-est  I've tried in Singapore. And they have this special paper prata, where the super thin dough is fried and have sugar added in one side and condensed milk on the other side. Imagine the about of sugar, fats and calories packed in that one plate of dough. It's not even filling! But it's damn good. I cannot resist this sweet sin! God please give me strength!

Although the Eurasian occupies the least in our population, the food is definitely everywhere! From fast food chains to fine dining options, There's all sorts of options to suit your budget and taste buds. Recently, there's been a rise in certain types of restaurants. Example the Salad Bars, Soup restaurants, All day breakfast joints, Sandwiches eateries. All these gives a feeling that it's the healthier choice, but we've all seen articles that some of the food are misleading. For example, a sandwich looks fine, but the amount of carbs that you are getting from the bread is too high, the sodium from the ham and meats is unthinkable. So, you think you can't really go wrong with salad bar. But the salad bars in Singapore is too damn expensive. Would you choose to buy a $6.90 salad that is not filling, or a packet of $2.50 that is yummy and makes you full? Do your maths. Now, that's the reason for our obese teens. Further, these salad bars are not as easily available as our chicken rice stalls.

Apart from real restaurants or food stalls, we have LOTS of places for desserts. And trust me, these places are really making profit from the look of it. We have a lot of ice cream shops that operate 24 hours or at least till like 3am. These places are not cheap. Usually $3+ for a scoop. If you want waffles or brownies to go along, please add another $5-$10, depending on the restaurant you are at. Places that do not only sell ice-cream, sells cakes. We all know what goes into the composition of a cake right. Do I still need to break them down?

Apart from all the above DAILY sins we commit, we still have special occasions. We eat like gluttons during Chinese New Year. We have the sinful Bah Kwa, all those goodies that's usually filled with lard also. I recently found our that my favourite brand of Bah Kwa contains 977kcals in one single slice. How sick is that?! Can you imagine the healthiest choice is Mandarin Oranges? That's ok if you eat like one or two. But usually each family will get a box of oranges during CNY, where do you think all these oranges goes to after the 15 days celebration?

We also have Hari Raya where our Malay friends will handmade those homemade goodies like pineapple tarts (also available during CNY), cookies (X100 types), rolls, cakes, chocolates and their kuey kueys. Usually, all these delicacies are packed with butter!

We also have Christmas, mooncake festival that's coming up, rice dumpling festival that we ate lots of glutinous rice dumplings with fatty pork wrapped in leaves. Also, we got the ghost month, where we have lots of offerings to the deceased. With the incense and joss sticks, we pray with food! Usually, we have a whole roasted suckling pig, roasted chicken and ducks, steam fish, noodles, rice, candies, tidbits, drinks, or anything that comes into mind. We all know that our ancestors don't really "eat" the food. After they finish "eating", it's said that they blessed the food. So we eat it, to be blessed. And down it goes through our esophagus.

Those above are typical. We still have anniversaries, birthdays that we come together and eat. Rule of thumb, just EAT!

Medical care in sg

After being hit with nephrotic syndrome since 2003, I've been a frequent visitor of SGH.

From steroids to expensive drugs, I've tried all that.

Today,  my condition is under control but I still might have to take coZaar, losartan for the rest of my life. Its qyite demoralising to know that.

It might also have problems to me giving birth.  Too much complications.

Few days earlier, I've got my health screening report. Report says that my cholesterol is too high. N also, the pancreas cancer count. Another bad news.  I havent touch pork n beef ever since.. well.. for the last 2 days...

Today's blood n urine test is sgd126.85. Hai~ medical care is so expensive in sg! Den I saw that doc actually clicked lipid panel, renal panel n liver panel. Thats where the costs came from.. all added up.

Hopefully this time the cholesterol would be good.. hope miracle can happen..

Need to space out the consultation already.  Visiting specialist too frequent is going to burn a hole in my pocket.

If I have any... -.-

Back for my medical check up

Haven't drove such long distance for quite some time.. i was very careful. Reached my destination safe and sound.. violated one traffic sign because I didn't know where to make that u turn.. I hope I dont get penalised for that.

Registered myself using the self registration machine.. second time using it.. it was much faster than waiting for the dilly dally nurses..

Not sure what will my test results be.. I not expecting cholesterol to drop. But pls don't be too high also. Hope my kidneys are doing well too. Gosh I got a long time ahead of me. I sure hope to stay drug free...

Bought my medical report along. Hope she can take a good look at it and tell me about the pancreas counter...

Driving makes me nervous. I think I need more practice.

Sleepy typing.. hope the next queue number is mine..

Stay or what?

Like every other singaporean, life in this fast pace world is not easy at all....

Having a full time job that you dont enjoy, some have problems with bosses, some with colleagues.  Most work like a dog, the rest just simply find their jobs too boring.  I belong to the latter...

Since young, I do not have a specific goal. My aim is to complete my education asap, and be successful. I don't remember targeting a specific industry, but I know I'll be sitting in a office of my own, calling shots, dress nice and look great. Something like Jane Bingum in Drop Dead Diva. Except I dont see myself as a lawyer. I dont have that kind of memory.

As for now, customer service is simply damn boring! Well, at least my job is!

If I continue here, I cant see myself somewhere I want to be in the next five years!

I need a good idea for a business... I'm all rounded. I can manage time well. I can multi task. And I am disciplined. I'm puntual. I a creative. I am talented. Just not in the academic and enough to earn myself a living on streets way...

Today is an especially difficult day for me. I had a very rough night. I didn't slp well.  Had a bad breakfast. Lunch was in a rush. Like briyani within 5 minutes rush. It wasn't digested well. And after the movie (ilo ilo), I bought chee cheong fun and some dim sum. Was damn full half way through.  Yucky feeling in my tummy.

Throughout the whole day, I'm thinking of my business venture. I wonder if H is going to work in Singapore. I wonder if opening a pub in North will be feasible.  The amount of capital involved. I thought about tarts. Capital and involvement.

I kept thinking. I'm mentally drained but physically uncomfortable.  I definitely need to work out the stress tmr during zumba.  Just that the instructor isn't so great. 40+ uncle who wore female pants. Urgh!

If I want to be successful.  I really need to start in the near future!

Problem is, I don't have something concrete. And I'm not sure if I've got the luck. Really....

God, I need strength.

Kumar in Parliament?? Public Transport in Singapore

Singapore's number 1 drag queen got something cooking up! He, or shall we her She is very active in the comedy circle, doing his shows in clubs at night. His show is really funny if you still haven't seen her in youtube. It usually starts with a song, where she will lip-sync and dance. After that, he will say hello in his very low male voice. Usually creates lots of laughter.

His jokes are mostly about the birds and the bees, different races and the government. I'm not sure if ang mo can understand his jokes but everyone is laughing! It's hilarious!

I just saw on Yahoo! yesterday that his having his own speech as a politician. I think it's gonna be like a form of short clips where he addresses the latest news of Singapore. In his teaser, he mentioned something like putting a conveyor belt in our public buses because people simple refuse to move to the rear.

I totally don't understand the rational behind not moving to the back. It almost felt like there's ghost at the back. And we are not talking about when there's nobody in front. Usually it's when the front is too full for anyone to board the train. People who was unable to get into the bus get to see the back of the bus where it's just a few passengers standing loosely, and as if it's not bad enough, sometimes there are seats!

Public has been the topic to complain by Singapore for the longest time. When I take bus, I complain that they come in scheduled timings. Nowadays, we have a board in some of the bus-stops, updating the scheduled  arrival time of the buses, usually it's inaccurate. It's more like a guide.

Or the buses are so full that you will not be able to get in. it's frustrated as it's likely that you miss two to three buses at one go. I'm not sure of other people, but it usually happens for my feeder service.

After that, I took the MRT. Sometimes there are weird smell inside. If you are lucky, or unlucky, you get to stand beside people with body odour or bad breath. It's unbearable if the train is packed like sardine. So pack that you have to be in contact with another sweaty piece of skin that's not yours!

After that, it's the taxi. It's the most expensive kind on public transport on land. Usually I'm alone when I take the taxi and I take at least once per day. Although it's a short journey. Sometimes, it can be unbearable. I'm thinking of compiling a taxi review blog for the longest time. But I still lack some motivation. Inside a taxi, you are there with a total stranger. It could be of different race, often different gender and age. You do not know the person's personality, but you can guess it within 3 seconds of your ride. Whether he greet you or even acknowledge you. You will be surprise. Around 50 percent of the taxi drivers DON'T acknowledge their passengers. That's like you won't get a response when you tell him/her where you are going. What if they bring you to the wrong place?!

I choose to tell the drivers to turn before the junction every  time unless we are going straight. It's sort of an implied thing to do. I'll have loads of things to write about when it comes to taxi rides. But I think I'll stop here. Before I cannot stop. Haha.

Cheers!

Will u marry me?

Gals - hearts skip a beat, tears filled their eyes, unknowingly nod their head n say yes for most of the case.
Guys - went through a lot of preparation ( for most cases ), crack their brains, get help from friends and families.

Recently been helping a friend to give ideas on his proposal to my BFF. His been indecisive all the time. I'm almost used to it. The proposal date and location kept changing. As of now, it's still TBC.

He intended to fly to BKK to meet her and surprise her in her room. However, this was a sudden thought. Although there's still tickets available, she's unsure on which hotel she'll be staying. So.. too much risk.

Second choice was to book a hotel with fireworks view during National Day Parade. He said she likes fireworks. But the price tag, above 800... Since they are having a grand ROM and their BTO coming at beginning of 2014. Budget is sort of a constraint.

Well, in between he also thought of going to Phuket to propose. He looked up lots of deals. Did quite a bit of stuff. But nothing was fruitful because he don't have a plan. His just researching. While another BFF n me gave him lots of ideas and offered help, there was no push factor. He kept saying his real nervous and didn't know what to say.

In the end, he said he'll book a room. More discreet. Less stress. Guess his looking for the easier way out.

Most females (or whoever to be proposed) thinks that this is a once in a lifetime thing and had high expectations. Come to think of it, my parents didn't get a proper proposal also. Some didn't even had proposal ring. She's lucky to have something customised and picked by her. It's a nice and pretty ring that suits her personally greatly.

I just hope that she will be happy and get the proposal that she've been waiting for... and almost gave up at the end.

Really bad haze

Since monday, sg has been getting lots of haze due to the activities in Indonesia.. every year around this time, we get a certain amount of haze. This year, its much worse.

Disclaimer: I'm writing based on my own understanding, experience and views towards this situation.
A LOT of ppl are very concerned about this situation.. since monday, psi rating was changed to hourly instead of every 3 hours. And last night 19th June 2013, it reached it's all time high at 321. Its the highest recorded level ever for singapore.

Anything above 80, its very obvious that the road is hazy, visibility decreases and you can smell char in the air. Can u imagine 321? All outdoor activities should be cancelled. NEA classified it as hazardous. People should stay indoor or wear a mask whenever u r out.

I went to meet my sis for bkt last night. It got up to 290 when I just reached home.. car are driving slower. I try to not go out if possible.

A lot are asking govt to do something abt it. Ministers said they are considering some things. But no action yet. Tremendous amount of hot spots in sumatra are only on the rise. Uncontrollable.. LSL said something, Dr Vivian said something. But still.. no action.

It actually got slightly better this morning. 100+ but still, causes irritation to healthy ppl like me.. and I've been trying hard to prevent myself from falling sick. A lot of water and fruits! But it doesn't seem to get any better. If only I can work from home.

Colleagues were asking boss if we can activate BCP under such harsh conditions. Boss quoted NEA guideline of 400 PSI. To be honest, I was a little pissed when I saw that. Who can tolerate 400 PSI?! I told myself if it got above 350, I will take urgent leave. I'm not risking my life for this. Above 300 is hazardous, hello?! Anyway, i saw boss's msg this morning. She woke up at 5am to check the weather. Looked clearer she said. She offered for everyone to have taxi claim, either from office or from her own pocket. Glad to know she's still concerned. As at 7am, 2 called in sick for our small team of 5. Yesterday also 3 of us only in the morning. Expecting loads of work. Hai~

My eyes were very irritated last night. Throat feels unwell this morning. And yes, sneezing away.. Sensitive nose.. But I hope i'll be better and I'll refrain myself from going outdoor. Baby will be sending me the N95 later. I need them badly when I'm traveling home from work.

I hope this haze can come down quick and please. Stop burning. They are unstoppable!

Sayonara

跟夏天才告别转眼满地落叶
远远的白云依旧无言
像我心里感觉还有增无减
跟去年说再见转眼又是冬天
才一年看着世界变迁
有种沧海桑田无常的感觉
oh~friend
我对你的想念
此刻特别强烈
我们如此遥远
朋友孩子的脸说着生命喜悦
如果说我们依然相恋
说不定在眼前是另外情节
oh~friend
我对你的想念
此刻特别强烈
这么多年
oh~friend
我对你的想念
此刻特别强烈
如此遥远
friend~

As above, she sent me last week. Saying its a nice song. Japanese title : Sayonara.

While hearing the shocking news this morning. I really felt for her.  I was afraid to see her. I dun think I can hold back my tears if I do. She's our happy pill. Always brought smiles and laughter to us even during the toughest time.

Things did not work out. Choices had to be made. Where is the love?

I didnt know things can happen so fast.. I couldn't catch up. Luckily, she's got lots of support. And I'm so glad that she didn't reject the help offered. Most importantly,  she's willing to speak up.

Be strong! My friend! I pray that things will get better for you. You will grow, only stronger...

I really hope that everything will be over soon.

Jia you!

Interview

Went for this interview today.  Very interesting.  Well, stepping out of my comfort zone for sure.
Things should be justifiable.
I just like a position with low turn over.  I hope I'll do well.. I hope I get it. Really!

-update: 20th June: I didn't get it. Relief but sad.

Hdb-too close too noisy

Hdb in sg is the most common shelter for singaporeans. And also the cheapest.  With the decrease of land space in our little red dot, govt build these high cramp buildings really close to each other.  And we are talking about - I can see what your pyjamas' s cartoon character close.

In this faithful day, my neighbours at the opposite block decision to have they sunday family day soup opera performance to entertain the families who decided to stay at home.

The opening scene was proudly presented by the younger couple staying in the house (I believe). It took place in the living room. The atmosphere was tense. A fight took place. Anger words exchanged. 跟了你一辈子都是为你着想, 现在你这样对我。你打我?! 每天都有人去死, 为什么你不去死?  Hai~ why like tat. Post maternal depression.. I thod..

After a short break of around 15 minutes, the finale was brought  to you by the older couple staying in the same unit. And in this case, they decide to bring it out for more audience. In order for easier viewing, it took place at the corridor.  Yes. U heard me... props were a broom n crates of metal (a.k.a. junks). Not forgetting the usual local vulgarities... wife hitting husband with the broom, I believe husband hit her barehand.. well my view was blocked by a pillar.. think they also pai seh..

This time, people walked out to see whats going on. I cant see how many from my block.. but there was at least 3 from the opposite block..

My sis said the quarrel at least 3 times a day.. haha..

家合万事兴

In this case, its (辛)。

Encore session after 5 minutes.. it's never ending..

Giving 家用

He handed me a $1000 note. He say save it. Haha.. dunno how was I feeling earlier. He worked hard this few days to earn it. Its the first time he handed me so much cash. Although I know I can't really spend it. Hai~ so what's the point?  I'm just keeping the money for him.

N he still expect me to thank him? What's he thinking.? Although I got lots of gifts from him, this time I really dunno what to say. .

I just thod I should jot it down..

Garden city

Looks like theres a change in sg. SINGA; our courtesy mascot resigned yesterday. In the resignation, it says that sg is lacking in courtesy.. well, frankly speaking, I dont think its up to an imaginary figure to tell us about courtesy. The way the resignation was put across, didn't seem very courteous either.

From a fine garden city, sg now os filled with rubbish, inconsiderate people. Well I would say it could be due to the flux of foreign talents.  When u mix nice ingredients together,  u kight get rojak. But if u mix weird or even smelly/bad ingredients, u r still going to get a pail of pun1(left over food for pigs). Let alone courtesy.  Shitty mixture.

Sg culture is diluted n filled with crap now. Crappy as it is. I really dunno what to expect.

Lots of first for today's context.

I'm glad that ppl overseas think so well of sg.  Or so I thod.  There are a few firsts in sg in the recent years that brought sg to the centre stage with the help of these international events.

Among the ones, I've attended two first.. my first auto show is to Tokyo Auto Salon. Cute n strong cars from sg, malaysia n japan also gather here for this show. I'm more attracted to the cute ones I must say..

As for another,  is spring wave sg that I attended.. its a annual taiwan concert. This time.. for the first time, it came to sg. Jam Hsiao is amazing! Super great vocal n damn act cool.. not to forget, wu bai.. disgusting rocker.. but they really can sing!

Its held at gardens by the bay.. nice place. We drove there n parked illegally.. haha.. what to do.. gps brought us to the wrong place n the carpark was full with a long queue.. I know I'm wrong.. sorry...

Anyway, it ended on a good note with supper at maxwell food centre.. my another first.. porridge,  gyoza, pork ribs and fan choy.. oh.. n lots of sugar cane juice. . Bloated..

Groceries

Today I drove to market n get pads. Pads there are much cheaper.. I believe... now that I'm much comfortable with driving, I felt that I can conquer more. But I still prefer driving alone.. lol..

I'm full after unsatisfied lunch.. oversized sugar cane drink seems like a bad idea.. but anyways.. still better than coke or green tea..

Saw xiaxue's blog this morning.. wonder y life is so unfair.. she's really lucky! The only plus point I think she has is her "daring-ability" . She speaks her mind.. she curse on her blog.. but still, she's like a celebrity in sg. Got her own platform where ppl worship her, She've got great photoshop skills also.. to my opninion..lol..

Her house is reallg pretty! N most of it sponsored. I wish I dare to dye my hair pastel purple like her.. well.. I think hers sponsored also.. anyways...

Enough of saliva dripping.  Focus on the front! Jia you!

Malaysia GE◇ our neighbours.

A lot of malaysians work in the same company as me. A lot went back to cast their votes for their country. To put their effort for a change that they've been urging.

Via fb, they showed their support. They show their hunger for a better future. They wish there's an end to corruption,  a brighter future, a better freedom..

However, it's not as easy. I wonder how can cheating be so blatant. It's as though shouting in ur face. I'll win because I can. I'll win if I want to.

Democracy becomes just a english word that didnt mean anything. Hopes were tarnished, people tell other fb friends to delete them away. Friendship come to an end together with the general election.

After a black out, they realised that there are boxes uncounted. Turn tables. Votes that will take 10 minutes walk to send somehow took hours. Everybody knows what's happening.  But they can't do anything.

Innocents hurt over this. Human became animals. Some people laugh, at their own stupidity, others say, what a pity.

It's a really sensitive period.  Think before u say anything.  They can buy their way through. Anything can happen. Beware...

Be afraid,  this is not the end...

Cloning?

I was looking at 9gag. Theres this post with dolly, the most famous sheep, a mouse with an ear and a alligator with a man head. Super creepy. Scientists made these? I dun exactly know how cloning works but could it be a way to bring extinct animals back to life?  Well, on the prenote that their cells are still alive. How is that possible?  Reminds me to austin powers. Mike myers's weird expression while frozen in thick ice.

Anyway, since I'm here. Might as well have some update. I was cinsidering invisalign for my fail teeth. Upon some research, the invisalign fb msg me that price ranges from 8k to 14k. Thats like more than half year of my salary. How can I afford it?! Super depressed. No sponsors!  But anyway, still need to motivate myself by starting to save money. Urgh!!

Baby's having exams so I didnt want to stress him.. his going to be out of job soon.. hope his able to get a high paying job thats suitable for his timing. I also need to get a high paying job.  But looks like gonna wait until he gets his. I need a vacation..

Any job that let me travel to korea n japan? Co. Pay for everything! How I wish. Well.. confidence!!!

Money!

Coffee talks and hawker woks

Ok. I posted this because I cant sleep. The drink in the pic was recommended by my colleague.i described it as "christmas in a cup". Thou it has a simpler name, qq.

I cant remember exactly,  but its during my sec school yrs. There was a boom in the bubble tea industry in sg. We drank it every other day. It started with 2.5 $ a cup on average depending on the "complexity" of ur drink. It could be jasmine green tea. Simply green tea in a fanciful name. Or the later trend, oreo crush, where they blend ice, coffee mix and oreo cookies together as a drink.  Yes. It tasted good back den.

Qq includes red beans, nata de coco, pudding, grass jelly, pearls with milk tea. I didnt know if I missed anything but u gotta forgive me if I did. Its really a long list!

Coming back, my post was typed because I couldn't sleep. Because of the 2nd cup of concentrated tea I poured for myself during 3.30pm training tea break this afternoon.  I totally regretted now.

Bubble tea came in and went away. But in the recent 2 years, they came back. This time, they stress on the quality. Taiwanese ingredients.  High prices because purchasing power of the target audience find it affordable. And as sg-reans are getting more and more health concious, it became their selling point. They now introduced fruit teas, sugar level to choose from. As thou it made a difference. But like all other people, we tend to deceive ourselves when it comes to attractive, appetising food.

Current brands in sg for bubble tea includes koi, gong cha, each a cup? Share tea, chatime, eskimo and sweet talk. These are all the franchaise brands.

If u think bubble tea is still too unhealthy for the health consious u, we also have tau huey. From the traditional soy bean curd to the recent famous soy milk pudding type.  Its made from soy milk, but gelatine is used to make it solidify. The end product, sweet n healthy dessert for the hot and humid singapore.

Since the increasing exposure of 老伴豆花 (a.k.a. old couple soy bean curd) over the social media and network, I notice a growth in the soy-pudding industry.

A typical example would be in Chong pang market. From none to 3 stalls. However one did not survive after a short period of a few months. Tho it has an interesting name of 吃你豆腐。 (a.k.a. take advantage of you). Apparently this is not a strong enough selling point.

Unless you are strong enough to withstand the competition, better start small. At least you don't waste so much of ur/ur parent's hard earned money for ur business venture.

Lets start!

I was inspired to do something to grow myself apart from my work. In sg, we call it CCA in our education years. Its known as Co-curriculum activities.  Apart from studying and achieve academically, sg's education also incorporate of developing a child's potential through various activities like sports, clubs etc. Typically, it also plays a part when getting into schools or when schools decide to take you over any other candidate.

Sg is a multi cultural country with the four main races, namely chinese, malay, indian and eurasions. We have lots of foreigners working here. A special a nice Term we use to describe them- FOREIGN TALENTS (FT).. This particular Term is mainly use To describe people / expatriates who come to Singapore To Work. In this context, govt & people has very different views awards them.

Many sees them as rivals to their employment. Most of the time, these FTs are willing to take Up jobs for very a significantly lower pay for a certain job. Employers feels that these FTs, are more hardworking than the locals and tends to be more obeying.

In my opinion, a certain Number of FTs seems REQUIRED. and its up to the govt to decide, What's the healthy Number before Singaporeans decide to "Strike. "

I don't wish to go too deep into the politics or the population White papers mainly because I'm not interestedand this topic is too heavy for me & wouldn't go With the feel of my blog.

p, ease feel free to ask me questions. y,, answer in my Opinion. :)

*start the ball rolling*
